Student Work: Game Design & Animation

Curtis Tadlock (6th place at the Kansas Student Technology Conference on 4/14!)

This animation illustrates the process of salt dissolving in water at the molecular level.

Curtis' animation is a crucial component in the understanding of ionization and solubility of substances in water. This process is very hard to illustrate in class because of the molecular size which cannot be viewed otherwise. Also, students come to my class with years of experience in watching television and graphical representations of concepts. Curtis' animation has allowed me to extend my teaching into an environment that is not only more accurate and precise but better illustrates a three-dimensional world. In all, I capture the attention of my students and keep them interested in chemistry!
