The eMagine Categories

These are the 2009 categories - most likely, they will be the same for 2010, but check back here for possible changes.

The eMagine Competition is designed to give students the opportunity to show what they can do in the fields of Web Design & Development, Graphic Design, Animation, and Broadcasting and Entertainment Production.

Please view the requirements and judging rubric below that pertains to your specific entry category:

Video:

Short Film (all genres, >8 min)

News Package (>3 min)

Documentary (>10 min)

Music Video

PSA (Public Service Announcement - informational, >60 sec)

Commercial (>30 sec)

DVD of footage in a QuickTime format must accompany the registration form


Animation:

2D Animation (Flash or any sequential frame method.)

3D Animation (Engaging story)

3D Animation (Use of animation principles)

3D Organic Modeling (with 360° spin)

3D Mechanical or Architectural Modeling (with 360° spin)

All Animation category rubrics

CD or DVD of animation must accompany each entry.

 

Web Design:

Design (general HTML/CSS Web Site design category)

Dynamic Database (Includes key database functionality & interaction)

Flash Functionality (contains significant Flash elements (menus, etc.) or is all flash)

CD of web site (or web address) must accompany this registration form.

 

Graphic Design:

Typography (type-focused pieces)

Design & Layout (design elements, grid structure, impact, hierarchy)

Print Media (printed piece with an actual commercial application)

Manipulated Digital Photography (digitally enhanced, refined, abstracted or manipulated original photography)
